About Melissa

Melissa Levine founded Masha Dasha Designs, in 2012. Masha Dasha creates one of a kind, handcrafted pieces using art supplies and recycled materials such as crayons, pencils, buttons and wine corks.

Melissa graduated with a BA in Art History and Fine Art from American University. Upon graduation, she spent 12 years working in art galleries and museums in both New York City and Washington, D.C. During that time, Melissa continued creating her own artwork; oil paintings, pastels and custom Jewish Marriage Contracts called Ketubahs.

Melissa draws the inspiration for her company, and its name, from her 14 year-old twin daughters Meredith and Danielle, (Masha and Dasha in Russian) whom she and her husband Mike adopted at 15 months of age.

When not working in her home studio, Melissa volunteers at her daughter’s school and teaches art workshops. An avid pet lover, Melissa can also be found walking her dog on the trails of suburban Westchester, NY and fostering dogs and cats.
